Dane vs Nigel, Game 7 of the Sixth Boris Chessky Cup Head-To-Head

I'm normally quite defensive against Dane's King's Gambit, but thought I'd try to be a bit more assertive this time.

Was doing rather well, but blundering my knight on move 22 meant I went, as the computer analysis helpfully puts it, "From winning to losing."

Dane retains the cup.

Dane vs Nigel, Game 1 of the Sixth Boris Chessky Cup Head-To-Head

We played this game back in December. It's taken me this long to be able to look at it again.

The game didn't start too badly for me, but the unsound sacrifice of my Knight on move 10, followed by the even less sound sacrifice of my other Knight on move 15 didn't help my game.

Funnily enough, Dane made a bit of a blunder on move 21, allowing me to take his Rook for free and it was potentially game on again, but he had things under control within a few moves and ended up with a nice checkmate - I knew I should just resign near the end, but sometimes one must hold on to the hope that the opponent will make some bizarre move that lets you escape. Foolish.

Dane vs Nigel, Game 7 of the Fifth Boris Chessky Cup Head-To-Head

It's been over a year since our last cup match. Dane only needed a draw to win the cup again.

Dane retains the cup and the waitress spilt my coffee over the board and pieces.

Aaron vs Nigel

My ol' buddy Aaron visited last year. We played some chess and had a few drinks. Was all most enjoyable.

Here's the first game we played. He played well, gaining the advantage and not letting up. Wish I'd seen the checkmate on move 33, though - either my Queen or Bishop taking the pawn on B2 would've been checkmate.
